
Andra Calligaro is an illustrator based in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. A former children’s bookseller with a master’s degree in ceramic arts, she became a full-time illustrator in 2024, pursuing her longtime dream.
In 2025, she won 3rd Prize at the Notte di Fiaba Illustration Contest. The book Vrăjitorița Jazzmina, written by Florin Bican and illustrated by her, was a finalist at the 2nd edition of the Cărturino Awards in Romania.
In 2026 her illustration was selected among the winners of Italian Excellence. Pinocchio’s New Clothes and was exhibited at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair.
Her first silent book, Un piccolo mistero giallo, is a finalist in the Silent Book Contest 2026 and was as well showcased at BCBF.
Her storyboard was selected among finalists at Concorso Lucca Junior – Premio di Illustrazione Editoriale Livio Sossi 2026 and will be exhibited at Lucca Comics & Games 2026.
Her illustrations for Tarzan, gorilla gentiluomo by Brian Freschi won first prize at the 2026 Notte di Fiaba Illustration Contest and will be published in Italy by Giunti in 2026.
She enjoys blending traditional and digital techniques and believes it is important to have fun while illustrating stories for children.
